DIVINE VIDEO CLIPS: Angus & Julia Stone

I am a bit of an information junkie, if someone is the flavour of the month, I'll look them up on Wikipedia to find out more about them. So with all the ARIA hype while on Wikipedia, I was looking up Angus and Julia Stone. I came across news of an acoustic cover they had done of "Your're the One That I Want." from the movie Grease. I am not a massive fan of the film, however, I think the Stone's cover is lovely and flows well.
According to Wiki it has, "proved to be a cult hit with fans."



Also how absolutely gorgeous is this videoclip by them - the scenery in it is spectacular. It is always good when an artists wins heaps of awards and you rediscover their music. Angus and Julia Stone will be great car music today.

NEW SONG: Lissie, 'When I'm Alone'

I'm really enjoying the sound of this new singer Lissie. It is hard to pin point her sound however Wikipedia (source of all irrelevant knowledge in this world) says that she is 'folk, rock, country' if you can make any sense out of that. I really like the nervous sort of feel to the start of the song coupled with her strong voice. It kind of reminds me of good background music, the other night while doing the dreaded task of doing the dishes I had her on the background through her myspace and really enjoyed her songs. GREAT NEW SONG: Katy Perry, Firework

Heard Katy Perry's new song in the car tonight...must say it is pretty good! Perry seems to be quite a goal hitter at the moment with lots of catchy and good songs. Pity she could not be on Seasame Street, I thought the parents who got upset about her clothes must have be very thick and boring people! I've got a feeling some DJ will make a good remix to this song and no doubt it will be played on a television telecast of New Years.

BEST NEW SONG: Want Everything by The Verses

This is definetely my song of the week - this is not meant to be a music blog but as I work at a computer 8 hours a day at the moment, finding new good songs to listen to is one thing that keeps me going.
I am a huge advocate of radio's in the workplace. They create a great atmosphere and fun among people when a good songs comes on that people can talks about and sing to. It is also sporadic, so it is able to affect your mood in a better way. Whereas having to sit with headphones in all the time is just a health and safety issue, it's going to affect my ear drums! Does anyone else share this opinion?

Nevertheless, The Vereses are the combination Victorian siblings of Ella and Jesse Hooper who used to be part of the popular late 90's, early 2000's band Killing Heidi (personally I think their new stuff is much better than the 'head bang bang' of Killing Heidi). Their sound is much differnt, less hard rock and more contemporary pop/rock with a country slant. I think Ella's voice is strong, thoughtful, slower and soulful through the song and her lyrics are poignant and flow well. It is also a little Fleetwood Mac-esque, which has also been on my playlist this week. I love the line in the song, "I'm waiting for that ship to come in, change in the wind to blow through."
